About Me
I’m Tin Tin (婷婷) and I’m a UX & UI Designer. I currently work at Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. I’ve worked on copy trading, trading competitions, survey platform development & research, and chatrooms.
I previously worked at Ant Bank, a virtual bank launched by Ant Group, where I designed features such as money transfers, account opening, UX copywriting, and others.
While at Blue Sky Energy Technology, an IOT startup, I developed digital and offline solutions to encourage energy saving behaviors and improve indoor air quality, including revamping the mobile app & dashboard, UX copywriting, marketing design and design facilitation.
BACKGROUND
I’m a graduate of the University of Hong Kong (HKU). At HKU, I majored in Geography and minored in Psychology, and studied abroad at the University of Amsterdam for a year.
SO HOW DID I GET INTO UX?
During my undergrad, I enjoyed my degree learning about climate change, sustainability & the environment, as well as the mind & behavior. But I always felt something was lacking: I missed the days back in high school when I’d spent hours in the art classroom - researching, ideating, and creating.
In my final summer, when everyone around me was aiming for internships at corporates & financial institutions, I applied for a Design & Product intern, where I developed marketing content, notifications copywriting, and our product launch at HKU.
Later on, I received a return offer as the User Interface & User Experience Designer. Having no idea what UX was, I did some quick research and realized that UX was a great fit for my background and decided to go for it.
After 1.5 years, I felt like I wasn’t learning much anymore as the only designer in the company, so I took a leap and joined Ant Bank, and then later on to Binance, where I have been at ever since.
HOW HAVE I DEVELOPED MY UX & UI EXPERTISE?
Starting out, I knew there was a steep learning curve ahead. To structure my learning, I took courses on Interaction Design Foundation, Coursera, and Udemy:

2. Information Visualization (top 10% course taker)
3. Mobile UX Design (top 10% course taker)

5. User Experience: Beginner’s Guide (top 10% course taker)
6. Human-Computer Interaction

I was formerly a part-time intern at Kaizor Innovation, a strategic UX design firm based in Hong Kong, and volunteer at Interaction Design Association (IxDA) Hong Kong. To learn from other designers, I also went to lots of events & meet-ups.
